Ordering the arrest of the Arewa Youth that gave ultimatum to Igbos to vacate the North was quite a patriotic and laudable move by the Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai. Lawlessness cannot be an option in our quest for peace and nationhood. I totally disagree with those condemning El-Rufai for taking such an action on the pretext that youth in other regions are having a field day fashioning private laws to govern their real (even imaginary) aspirations without a word of caution from their political, traditional or spiritual leaders. The Senior Special Assistant to the President, Femi Adesina has during a recent interview disclosed that the Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari made three promises to Nigerians prior to his election into office in 2015 and has fulfilled every one of the promises. The Senate today urged the Federal government to direct the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) to immediately review this year's Hajj fare from N1.5m to N800,000.    The resolution was sequel to a motion sponsored by Ibrahim Abdullahi Danbaba and 39 others on the exorbitant Hajj fare announced by the NAHCON for this year's Hajj to Saudi Arabia.    NAHCON had weeks ago announced the Hajj fare for 26 States and pegged at over N1.5m.

A civil society organisation, Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP), has urged former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, to disclose donations made to his presidential library. It called on the acting President Yemi Osinbajo to propose a bill seeking to regulate fundraising for presidential libraries. In a statement issued Sunday by its senior staff attorney, Timothy Adewale, SERAP said the bill, when signed into law, would ensure transparency in such donations. Adewale said Osinbajo should work closely with the leadership of the National Assembly to ensure the speedy passage of any such bill into law. He said: “The proposed bill would give Nigerians a better view of major donations going to presidential libraries, and provide access to information as to whether donors gain any special Aso Rock influence. The bill would minimise the potential for a quid pro quo, influence-peddling, and help to build trust and confidence among a citizen
